Jason Lehmkuhle to Compete at Bloomsday 12k on May 3; Six Team USA Minnesota Runners Qualify for USA Outdoor Championships; Weekend Race Results Posted
Minneapolis/St. Paul - April 28, 2009 - Team USA Minnesota's Jason Lehmkuhle will be among the competitors at the 33rd annual Lilac Bloomsday Run 12k in Spokane, Wash., on May 3.  The race, one of America's largest, has more than 43,000 participants and a prize purse of $93,000.
 
Lehmkuhle most recently ran the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile on April 5 and prior to that, the USA 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 14.  His credentials over the past year include second at the 2008 USA Half Marathon Championships, member of the USA team that competed at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, and eighth place finisher at the ING New York City Marathon in November.  He has a best in the 15k of 44:09, in the 10 mile of 47:48, and a half marathon best of 1:02:32.
 
Qualifiers for USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Six Team USA Minnesota distance runners have qualified for the 2009 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will be held June 25-28 in Eugene, Oregon.  The qualifying times were obtained at either the Mt. SAC Relays held on April 17 or at the NYRR Distance Carnival, which was part of the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on April 24. 
 
The athletes and the events where they have qualified include:
. Emily Brown - 5000 meters
. Carrie Tollefson - 5000 meters
. Katie McGregor - 10,000 meters
. Meghan Armstrong - 5000 and 10,000 meters
. Josh Moen - 5000 and 10,000 meters
. Matt Gabrielson - 10,000 meters
 
Setting personal bests at both Mt. SAC and at the Brutus Hamilton meets were Armstrong and Moen.  Armstrong posted 15:41.09 in the 5000m (previous best was 16:08) and then 33:26.75 in the 10,000m (previous was 33:28).  Moen ran 13:35.73 in the 5000 (his previous best was 13:53) and 28:26.26 in the 10,000 (previous was 28:31.08).
 
Weekend Race Results
At the Get in Gear 10k in Minneapolis on April 25, which had over 3,500 finishers, Antonio Vega was third overall with a time of 30:00 and Chris Lundstrom placed sixth in 30:46.  Next up for both Vega and Lundstrom will be the USA 25k Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich., on May 9.
 
Competing on the east coast where temperatures on Sunday reached into the upper 80s was Michelle Lilienthal who was third among females at the George Washington Parkway Classic 10 Mile race in Alexandria.  Lilienthal's time was 58:00.  Her next race will be the USA 25k Championships.
